About the Doctors
Dr. Maria Evelina Guerrero, aka Dr. Evy, is a Board Certified pediatric dentist who graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio in 2008 and received her certificate in pediatric dentistry in 2010 from the same institution. She is fully dedicated to her practice furthering her education in holistic dentistry and has extensive experience with laser frenectomy procedures. Dr. Evy is excited to introduce holistic dental procedures for her little patients to help their bodies achieve overall health throughout their childhood, adolescence, and ultimately into adulthood. She believes that exposing patients to the most biocompatible materials available is essential during the years of greatest growth and development.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Evy is able to communicate with an extended range of patients and has participated in numerous dental mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and within Texas.
Outside of work, Dr. Evy is a runner and tri-athlete, and she participates in as many races and charity running events as her schedule will allow. She enjoys gardening and caring for her chickens and bunnies.
Dr. Evy’s husband works as a helicopter pilot in Austin. In their free time, they enjoy flying, discovering new healthy restaurants and food trucks, hiking, traveling, remodeling/construction projects, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Edward J. Gonzalez was born in New York City, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University. He worked as an engineer for Amoco Corporation and NASA in Houston for eight years. Dr. Gonzalez then entered the DDS program at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he was a classmate of Dr. Evy and graduated in 2008. Following graduation, he served in the U. S. Air Force as a captain and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD). Dr. Gonzalez has a special interest in holistic dental practices and helping patients achieve their health goals by assisting in addressing certain conditions that may be caused by poor oral health and ill-fitting restorations.
Dr. Gonzalez and his wife Liliana have an energetic son, David Alejandro. His hobbies include triathlons, running, traveling with his family, hiking and cycling. He lived in Puebla, Mexico for many years and would be happy to give you advice on places to visit, eat, cycle, and hike in that area.

About the Staff
Meet Kendra Buerschinger, one of our Dental Assistants! She is originally from the small town of Blanco, Texas and moved to Dripping Springs, Texas in 2013. Kendra recently received her RDA license through UT Health and Science Center. She has loved every aspect of her job as a pediatric dental assistant. She and her wonderful husband have been married for a year. They have one cat and one dog that are very dear to them! In her spare time, Kendra loves to run, camp, fish, hike, and just be outdoors! She is a strong believer in overall health and was in the fitness industry prior to dental assisting. Kendra is very excited to teach young children the importance of health and how it can reflect in the dental office.

Meet Calvin Tran, one of our Dental Assistants! Calvin graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. Calvin obtained his Registered Dental Assistant certificate while attending college through the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Calvin has been fascinated with dentistry since he was a young boy and plans to attend dental school to become a dentist. Calvin enjoys the new experiences that come with working as a pediatric and general dental assistant. Calvin has lived in different cities of the United States, but calls New Braunfels and Austin, TX home. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Calvin’s hobbies include running, working out, sports (especially soccer), video games, watching movies, reading, billiards and bowling.

Sam Manzanares was born in El Paso, TX. He graduated with honors with a degree in nutrition and biochemistry minor. He is in the application process to dental school to become a dentist. In college, he served as the executive director of the “St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn program”, a student ran philanthropic program that aims to raise money for the children of St. Jude children’s research hospital. His goal in dentistry is to emphasize and the importance of dental and overall health through nutrition. He is a proud father of the biggest goof lab/pit mix dog named Indie. On his spare time, you will find him riding his bike around the beautiful hills of Austin in spandex (road bike). He played football growing up and credit that my work ethic. He is a die-hard New England patriots’ fan.
“I’m grateful to be given the opportunity to work at Green Apple and everyday has been a learning experience.” He considers the outdoors a passion of his. “Life calls to be outdoors. It’s candy for the soul (that won’t give you cavities)”.
Meet Yesenia Capistran, one of our sweetest, most kind team members! She is originally from Houston, Texas and moved to Austin, Texas in 2015 to attend The University of Texas at Austin. Yesenia is currently a biology/ Pre-Dental student at UT and has plans to go to Dental school. She has enjoyed being part of the Green Apple pediatric dentistry staff and learning both the clinical and non-clinical aspects of the practice. In her spare time, Yesenia loves to spend time with her puppy, and watch sports. She loves to travel and is always looking for new adventures! Yesenia is very excited about her future in dentistry beginning here at Green apple!

Meet Tracy Crofford, our newest dental assistant. Tracy was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She moved to Lubbock and acquired her undergraduate credentials from South Plains College. She returned to Austin to further her education in the field of dentistry by obtaining her Registered Dental Assistant certificate through Austin Dental Assistant School in 2018. Tracy plans to gain as much experience and knowledge as she can before applying to dental hygiene school in the future. Before her career in dentistry she worked in customer service for 12 years. She enjoys running in town lake, cooking for her family, skiing and spending time with her boyfriend.
Sophia Cantu grew up in Dripping Springs, Texas where she graduated from Dripping Springs high school and continued her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Sophia has always loved going to the dentist as a kid with hopes of becoming one. She is now taking the first step into making that dream a reality and is currently applying to go to school for dental hygiene. She is excited to start her career and to help express the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy mouth. In her free time, she enjoys taking her dog Amber out on walks, having movie nights with her friends, and exploring what the great city of Austin has to offer.
